Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the new Pamban Bridge in Tamil Nadu on Sunday, marking the opening of India's first vertical lift railway sea bridge. The 2.07-kilometre-long bridge spans the Palk Strait. The 72.5-meter navigational span can be lifted up to 17 meters, allowing larger ships to pass underneath. The new bridge is 3 meters higher than the existing one.

The 2.07-kilometre-long bridge's 72.5-metre navigational span can be lifted up to 17 metres, allowing larger ships to pass underneath. Security forces locked down the Canadian Parliament on Saturday after a man barricaded himself in the East Block section, police said. Tens of thousands of protestors flooded streets across the US on Saturday to oppose the policies of President Donald Trump and billionaire Elon Musk. The Waqf (Amendment) Bill, which was passed by both Houses of the Parliament, received President Droupadi Murmu's assent, the government said on Saturday.
