Apu Nahasapeemapetilon has returned to 'The Simpsons' after being reduced to a non-speaking character in 2017 amid backlash over his portrayal as a "racial stereotype". The character was previously played by a white man, Hank Azaria; however, Apu will now be voiced by Sunil Malhotra. Further, Apu's wife, Manjula, has also returned with a new voice by Janina Gavankar.
