Taiwanese President Lai Ching-te remarked that it is "impossible" for China to become Taiwan's motherland because it has older political roots. "On the contrary, [Taiwan] may be the motherland of...people of [China] who are over 75 years old," Lai added. China recently marked its 75th anniversary on October 1 while Taiwan will mark its 113th birthday on October 10.
