Astronomers discover rare '2nd-gen planet' formed from ashes of dead star

Astronomers from the University of Warwick found evidence of the first possible "second-generation" planet candidate, which may have formed from material expelled when its parent star died. The planet orbits a white dwarf, the remnant core of a star, every 4.4 days. "They're incredibly rare, and finding one around a white dwarf was completely unexpected", said astronomer Jamie Williams.
