China is facing an outbreak of human metapneumovirus (HMPV), about five years after the COVID-19 pandemic, according to several reports. HMPV is reportedly spreading rapidly, along with other viruses like Influenza A, Mycoplasma pneumoniae and coronavirus, and has overwhelmed hospitals and crematories. Children's hospitals are particularly strained by rising pneumonia and 'white lung' cases.
