The James Webb Space Telescope has found evidence of a thick atmosphere around TOI-561 b, an ultra-hot rocky exoplanet. It measured a dayside temperature near 3,200°F, far below the 4,900°F expected without an atmosphere, suggesting heat redistribution across planet. It could have a volatile-rich atmosphere, researchers said, citing winds and infrared-absorbing gases on the planet's nightside.
