Notably, both Demokraatit and the Naleraq party, which came in second place, favour the semi-autonomous territory's independence from Denmark. Independence was also a key issue in this election given US President Donald Trump's interest in acquiring Greenland for national security.

Officials of the US and Ukraine met in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday to begin talks on ending Russia-Ukraine war. Tensions had erupted between the two countries after US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy clashed over a peace deal at the White House last month. Twenty soldiers have been killed and a drone has been shot down by the Baloch Liberation Army after it hijacked a train in Pakistan. The militants said they had taken 182 hostages from the train, including Pakistan army members and other security officials travelling on leave. The train was on its way from Balochistan's capital Quetta to Peshawar.

Women, kids, the elderly, and Baloch citizens have been released safely and given a secure route by the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) from the train that it hijacked in Pakistan. The Balochistan government dispatched rescue teams after the train carrying around 400 people was hijacked. The BLA seeks independence for Balochistan and has battled Pakistan's government for decades.

The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has hijacked the Jaffar Express in Pakistan's Bolan taking 120 passengers hostage and killing six military personnel, reports said. The group warned that any military operation against it will result in the execution of all hostages. "Our freedom fighters have blown up the railway track," the BLA said.
