Meta, Google and BlackRock are collectively committing more than $265 million to recruit and train electricians and carpenters to build AI data centres across the US. The race to expand AI infrastructure has created record demand for skilled workers as companies rapidly scale capacity. The hiring boom is also deepening labour shortages in construction, manufacturing and other industries.
