Corruption by a civil servant is an offence against society and state, the Supreme Court said on Thursday. The court made the observation while hearing a Madras High Court order which dismissed a criminal complaint in a cash­-for-­job scam, citing settlement between parties. The apex court held the High Court was "completely in error in quashing the criminal complaint".
