Congress's Jairam Ramesh has raised questions about the exclusion of Manipur from Union Home Minister Amit Shah's upcoming itinerary to visit two Northeastern states. "The Assam CM has just announced that [Amit Shah] will be making a three-day visit to Assam and Mizoram, beginning March 14. But why is Manipur not on his itinerary?" Ramesh said.

According to Pakistani media outlets, the train hijack by Baloch Liberation Army has ended and hostages have been freed. Top Pakistani army official Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said that all 33 militants behind the hijacking have been killed. Over 400 people were on the train, with reports saying that around 350 were rescued.

Over 30 hours after a train carrying around 400 people was hijacked by Baloch Liberation Army in Pakistan, the country's PM Shehbaz Sharif has released first statement on the incident. Calling it a "heinous terrorist attack", Sharif said, "Entire nation is deeply shocked by this dastardly act and saddened by loss of...lives—such cowardly acts won't shake Pakistan's resolve for peace."

The Baloch Liberation Army has said that it has executed 50 hostages from the hijacked Pakistani train after "enemy forces attempted an armed advance using heavy artillery and sophisticated weaponry". "This brings the total number of eliminated enemy personnel to over 100, while approximately 150 more hostages remain under BLA custody," the militants said.

The year-on-year inflation rate based on All India Consumer Price Index (CPI) for February 2025 over February 2024 is 3.61% (Provisional), the government said on Wednesday. It is the lowest year-on-year inflation after July 2024, the government added. Year-on-year inflation rate based on All India Consumer Food Price Index (CFPI) for February 2025 stood at 3.75%.

Pakistani forces have rescued 155 passengers, saying a security operation was under way to free dozens still held hostage.

Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Jio has signed a deal with Elon Musk's SpaceX to bring Starlink's internet services to India. This comes a day after Reliance Jio's rival Bharti Airtel signed a similar deal. Notably, both deals are subject to Starlink receiving government approval. The agreements follow PM Narendra Modi’s meeting with Elon Musk in the US a few weeks ago.

Ukraine has agreed to US' proposal for a 30-day ceasefire and immediate negotiations with Russia in talks in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday after three years of war. "We'll communicate to Russia that Russian reciprocity is the key to achieving peace," US said. It added that US will immediately lift the pause on intelligence sharing and resume security assistance to Ukraine.

After a passenger train was hijacked in Pakistan by Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) on Tuesday, the country's spokesperson said its security forces have killed 16 hijackers and rescued 104 passengers. BLA had reportedly said it took 214 hostages and killed 30 Pakistani military personnel. BLA sought release of Baloch political prisoners, forcibly disappeared persons and national resistance activists.
