₹3-lakh prize winner in microscopic video contest disqualified over AI use

Nikon disqualified the winner of its Small World in Motion 2026 contest saying the video "didn't comply with competition rules regarding generative AI". The $3,000 (around ₹2,90,326) prize winner Dr Ning Xu had acknowledged using AI, but said he believed he had acted within the rules. New winner is Nguyen Nam Nhat for video of a roundworm and single-celled Dileptus.
