What do 'WL', 'RAC' and 'CNF' mean for train tickets in India?

Train tickets in India often have the terms 'WL', 'RAC' and 'CNF' printed on them. A 'CNF' status means a full berth/seat has been allocated to the ticket holder, while a 'WL' status indicates the passenger is on general/pooled quota/remote location waiting lists. 'RAC' status allows a passenger to board a train but doesn't allocate a full berth/seat to them.
