HDFC Bank has appointed former Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) and ex-Finance Secretary Rajiv Kumar as part-time chairman for three years, subject to RBI's approval. He will also be appointed as an Additional Director (Independent Director) for a four-year term, effective June 30, subject to shareholders' approval. This comes months after former chairman Atanu Chakraborty's resignation in March.
