Nigerian woman para powerlifter Esther Nworgu has become first from her country to win gold at the Commonwealth Games 2026 (CWG). She also broke the CWG record by scoring 119 points after successfully lifting 123 kg. Fellow Nigerian Esther Oyema won silver in the same category after scoring 115 points, taking the country's medal tally to three in CWG 2026.
