Bhangu, coach of CWG-winning Indian women's hockey team that inspired Chak De! India, passes away

Gurdial Singh Bhangu, who coached Indian women's hockey team to gold at Commonwealth Games 2002, passed away aged 86 in Canada. The team's historic victory inspired the 2007 Shah Rukh Khan-starrer 'Chak De! India'. Bhangu was the team's chief coach, while Mir Ranjan Negi, whose story partly inspired the film, served as goalkeeping coach. Bhangu received Dronacharya Award in 2001.
