Australian researchers have created a dark, absorbent material that can remove 95% of "invisible" microplastics from wastewater in an hour. The material also removed 95% of tested contaminants like mercury, chromium, copper, dyes and ibuprofen. The researchers then collaborated with a Canadian industry to build a prototype that could magnetically recover the material after use, making it reusable.
