Centre proposes to increase Lok Sabha seats from 543 to 850, shares draft bill with MPs
The Centre has proposed to increase the strength of the Lok Sabha from 543 to 850 and circulated a draft bill to MPs. According to the proposal, 815 of 850 seats will be allocated to states, while 35 seats will be reserved for Union Territories. The increase in seats could pave the path for the Women's Reservation Bill.
