The DMK moved adjournment motions in both Houses of Parliament over Karnataka's proposed Mekedatu dam project. Responding to the move, Karnataka CM DK Shivakumar said, "the project would benefit Tamil Nadu, not Karnataka." The Mekedatu dam project is a dispute between Karnataka and Tamil Nadu over a proposed ₹9,000-crore balancing reservoir on the Cauvery River.
