Brain cells' disappointment meter can help treat addiction: Study

A study published in 'Current Biology' found that certain groups of brain cells which detect, record and process negative emotions can act as a "disappointment meter". Researchers said it could help develop more effective treatment for neuropsychiatric disorders like depression and addiction. The researchers analysed the lateral habenula region, also called the brain's 'anti-reward centre'.
