Several aspirants of the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2025 received an e-mail from the exam's organiser, IIT Roorkee, beginning with, "Dear Idli chutney no sambhar." Aspirants shared screenshots of the e-mail on social media, asking, "Is this some kind of joke?" and "Why no sambar?" IIT Roorkee later issued a statement blaming a "technical glitch" for the e-mail.
