Japan launches blade-proof umbrellas on trains amid knife attacks

In a bid to enhance passenger safety, Japan has launched blade-proof umbrellas on its trains. The move comes after a significant number of knife attacks occurred on public transport and aims to help people defend themselves till the train staff is able to intervene. Around 1,200 of these umbrellas will be introduced across 600 trains operating in the Kansai region.
