About 600 people were killed within a few hours by members affiliated with Al-Qaeda in an attack on the town of Barsalogho in West African country Burkina Faso on August 24, as per reports. Jama'at Nusrat al-Islam wal-Muslimin (JNIM) militants had reportedly entered the area on motorcycles and shot down local villagers, who had dug trenches to defend Barsalogho.
