UP farmer with no firm or GST number receives ₹5 crore tax notice

A farmer from Uttar Pradesh's Sultanpur district, Jagat Pal Yadav, received a tax notice demanding ₹4.93 crore from Gurugram’s Excise and Taxation Department. Yadav, who never owned a business or obtained a GST registration number, suspects his Aadhaar and PAN details were misused after he was promised benefits under a government scheme. Police are investigating the alleged fraud.
