Manipur shuts all schools for 3 days amid protests over NRC demand

The Manipur government on Wednesday announced the closure of all educational institutes in the state from August 20 to 22, citing the "prevailing law and order situation". The order comes amid continuing protests in Manipur over demands for an updated National Register of Citizens (NRC) before any Census exercise is carried out. A 48-hour strike was called over the demands.
