Japan police chief apologises to world's longest-serving death row inmate after acquittal

A video of a Japanese prefecture's police chief apologising to 88-year-old Hakamada who was acquitted after over 50 years in September has surfaced. Hakamada, considered the world's longest-serving death row prisoner, was acquitted after a court found that evidence was fabricated. "We're sorry to have caused you unspeakable mental distress and burden...We're terribly sorry," the police chief said.
