For the first time, six Indian universities were named among the top 10 globally for research paper retractions in 2025. Universities in the list include Chennai's Anna University, Lovely Professional University, and JNTU. India has recorded 887 research paper retractions in 2025, according to the Retraction Watch database, making it the world's second-highest after China (1,701).
