Incas sacrificed kids with fatal head blows, then revered their mummified remains

A study has found that Inca child sacrifices involved fatal head blows during the capacocha ritual. Scientists analysed mummified remains of four children discovered atop Peruvian volcanoes using CT scans. The findings, published in 'Journal of Archaeological Science: Reports', show the children were later revered, with some bodies even relocated and ritually preserved.
