The Goa government is restoring a 4.5 km stretch of the Tar river in Mapusa to improve water flow, reduce flood risks and boost agricultural productivity. The project also includes desilting, riverbank construction, and embankment works benefitting nearly 1,000 hectares with year-round cultivation. It is also expected to create long-term opportunities for tourism and sustainable development.
