West Bengal CM Suvendu Adhikari announced on Monday that existing state welfare schemes would continue, but with "transparency" and stricter oversight. "No deceased person, illegal infiltrator or non-citizen will be allowed to avail benefits meant for Indian citizens," Adhikari told reporters. He said state government also decided to commence process of transferring land in border areas to BSF.
