India stops petrol sales at over 2,500 pumps over E20 impurity fears: Report

Union Petroleum Ministry launched a massive quality-control campaign for E20 petrol and stopped petrol sales at 2,573 pumps for not meeting standards, Autocar India reported. The campaign reportedly began after E20 activist Tehseen Poonawalla shared SIAM's letter to the government, flagging high impurities in E20. The government has mandated water-ingress testing of petrol tanks 8-12 times/day.
