Scientists have uncovered evidence of cannibalism in a 4,000-year-old massacre in Somerset where 37 people were killed. Analysis of 3,000 bone fragments revealed cut marks indicating the victims were dismembered with stone tools and consumed. Researchers suggest the act was ritualistic, aimed at "dehumanising" the victims and sending a message by "insulting the remains".
