Geoeconomic confrontation is the biggest threat that could trigger a material global crisis this year, according to the World Economic Forum's Global Risks Report 2026. State-based armed conflict and extreme weather events are among the other major global risks. The report noted that the geoeconomic confrontation is expected to remain the biggest global risk over the next two years.
