A parliamentary committee said Indian Railways has seen a sharp decline in on-time performance, with punctuality falling from 90% in 2021-22 to 73.62% in 2023-24. The panel said of the 6.22 lakh trains audited, 1.82 lakh failed to meet the punctuality benchmark of a 15-minute delay allowance. It asked the government to review and revise the 15-minute timeline.
