Scientists create 'living plastic' that self-destructs in 6 days

Scientists at the American Chemical Society have developed a self-destructing "living plastic" using engineered bacteria that completely breaks down in six days, without leaving any microplastic residue. Created by heating the bacteria to about 50 degree celsius, the material produces two enzymes in sequence, allowing it to fully degrade instead of breaking into smaller plastic fragments.
