Mayank Chakraborty, who became India's first chess Grandmaster from Northeast, was born on July 28, 2009. He had become the second International Master from Assam in 2023. His mother Monomita is doctor by profession, while his father Keshab Chakraborty quit his job to support Mayank's career. Mayank had become Under-11 national champion in 2019 and Under-17 national champion in 2022.
