Tamil Nadu CM Vijay has launched a scheme under which babies born in government hospitals will be given 1-gram gold rings. While babies born from 22 June (the CM's birthday) onwards will be eligible, the scheme will be formally launched in September. On Tuesday, price of one gram of 24K gold in Chennai was ₹14,793, as per the Goodreturns website.
