China's space station to double its size as NASA phases out ISS
short by Sunny Sharma / on Saturday, 2 May, 2026
China plans to expand its low-earth-orbiting space station, potentially more than doubling its size, as the International Space Station (ISS) is set to be phased out. China's Tiangong station will first be fitted with a fourth module with multiple docking ports, including for two future laboratory units. NASA plans to retire ISS in early 2031 using a SpaceX-developed deorbit vehicle.
