In a first, NASA spots tiny Red Plankton across global waters

NASA satellites have, for the first time, detected tiny red plankton swarming across global oceans, revealing food hotspots vital for endangered North Atlantic right whales. Using Aqua data, scientists mapped subtle colour shifts in the plankton's red-coloured pigment called astaxanthin. The data showed some of these swarms reached staggering densities of 150,000 per cubic metre.
