Women candidates won three out of 90 Assembly seats in Jammu and Kashmir. While the lone female BJP candidate Shagun Parihar won from the Kishtwar constituency, National Conference's (NC) Sakeena Masood and Shamim Firdous won the DH Pora and Habbakadal seats, respectively. In 2014, two women candidates emerged victorious, while in 2008, three women, including PDP's Mehbooba Mufti, secured wins.
