Supreme Court issued an interim order halting bulldozer demolitions across India without its permission till next hearing on October 1. When Solicitor General of India Tushar Mehta raised objections, the apex court said that "heavens won't fall" if demolitions are stopped for a few days. However, it clarified that the order doesn't apply to encroachments on roads, water bodies, etc.
