Torrent Power told to transplant trees in Karjat row

Alibag forest division has verbally asked Torrent Power to transplant as many trees as possible instead of cutting them for its pumped storage hydropower project in Karjat. Tree-cutting was halted in late October after social media videos sparked protests. A formal order is expected soon. The company has agreed to plant three trees per felled tree.
