The 4% withdrawal rule may not work for Indians planning to retire at 45 as the rule was developed keeping a 30-year post-retirement period in mind. An early retiree must plan their retirement corpus' size based on their lifestyle preferences as a single 4% rate fails to satisfy long-term needs. A contingency buffer is also more important for early retirees.
