Why are Indian cities feeling hotter even after the arrival of monsoon?

The monsoon is no longer guaranteeing relief from heat in cities like Delhi and Mumbai due to the Urban Heat Island effect, which causes concrete, asphalt and buildings to absorb and retain heat. High humidity further raises the "real-feel" temperature by limiting sweat evaporation. This comes as warmer Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal waters are increasing atmospheric moisture.
