India may soon introduce strong front-of-package warning labels (FOPLs) for packaged food. Supreme Court had directed FSSAI to introduce FOPL warnings for packaged products high in sugar, salt and saturated fat. In an affidavit filed in March, FSSAI said it's considering tabular or pictorial format to highlight food high in fat, sugar, and salt to help consumers make informed choices.
