El Nino is confirmed to hit India during monsoon season in June, bringing rainfall levels to the lowest India has seen in last 3 years, Dr Mrutyunjay Mohapatra, DGM, IMD, told India Today. El Nino is periodic warming of Pacific Ocean that disrupts weather patterns across Asia. Mohapatra said it'll strengthen in coming months and attain full strength in September.
