The TVK government has cancelled projects worth ₹246 crore that were envisaged using temple funds by the previous DMK government. The move will also prevent temples under the control of the Tamil Nadu Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department from going bankrupt, an official said. The revenue generated by several temples was reportedly being used to fund government welfare schemes.
