Omar Abdullah has been unanimously elected leader of the National Conference Legislature Party, making him the party's chief ministerial candidate. National Conference president Dr Farooq Abdullah confirmed the decision following a meeting at the party's Nawa-e-Subha headquarters. Omar will now seek support from Congress to stake a claim for government formation with 49 legislators on board.
