Ladakh saves 90 mn litres of glacier water daily, aids 12 villages
Ladakh has begun utilising 90 million litres of glacier water daily, previously lost as untapped runoff into the Indus River. Glacial meltwater from Stok village Nallah in Leh is now channelised into the Igoo-Phey Irrigation Canal, benefiting nearly 12 villages and supporting irrigation across over 1,000 acres. The initiative uses simple earthwork without requiring capital expenditure.
