US, Iran clash over Strait of Hormuz control

Two vessels were struck by unidentified projectiles in the Strait of Hormuz, UKMTO confirmed. Iran's IRGC Navy claimed control of the waterway and threatened to sink US carriers, while US CENTCOM dismissed the claims, asserting American forces control the strait. Iran also deployed new naval units east of Hormuz after detecting a damaged, burning tanker.
