Iran's Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, declared a "new phase" in securing the Strait of Hormuz by introducing new "legal rules and administration". Calling US out for "exploiting" the waterway, he said Tehran would secure Gulf region from "enemy's abuses ​of ⁠the waterway". The new management of Strait will bring "calm, progress and economic benefits" for all Gulf countries, he added.
